I grew up in Northern Virginia and graduated from James Madison University. My wife Lindsay and I live in Willowsford and have 3 kids - Brayden (10) , Shane (8), & Tori (6). Sports (Baseball & Football) have been a passion of mine since I was a little boy,playing baseball through senior year in high school and football in college. In terms of coaching experience, going on 6 seasons managing in LSLL , 2 coaching LSLL all stars, and 3 seasons in travel.
Coach Mike grew up in Northern Virginia, playing little league in Fairfax County. As a teenager, he coached his younger brother in Little League. As Coach Mike’s kids have begun playing baseball, he has coached all 3 of his kids. His approach is to teach strong fundamental baseball with a focus on continually advancing player’s skills. In addition to the Lightning, Mike also coaches for Loudoun South Little League, including being the manager for the 8-9 NL All Star team and 9-10 NL All Star team, both of which won the District 16 tournament.
Will is a Northern Virginia native and former NFL player. He graduated from Virginia Tech where he earned a scholarship after arriving as a preferred walk-on. Will went on to play ten years in the NFL as an offensive lineman. Since playing his last NFL game in 2015, he has provided football analysis for the radio on 106.7 The Fan, on television for Fox 5 DC, and online for Pro Football Focus. He conducts local youth football camps, coaches baseball for LSLL, and is a volunteer football coach at Independence HS. Will is married to his wife, Ashley, and together they have two children, Samantha and Luke. In high school, Will was a three-sport athlete playing football, basketball and baseball. In baseball his senior year, he helped the Centreville Wildcats advance to the 6A state-semifinals as the cleanup hitter, third baseman, pitcher, and first baseman. As a baseball coach, Will’s goal is to develop his players to play multiple positions and encourage all to play multiple sports. His aim is to instill the athletes to play with strong effort and maintain a positive attitude.
Kent Stokley currently lives in Aldie, VA with his wife Jillian and their three sons Macklin (8), Hudson (6), and Walker (2). Kent grew up in Herndon, VA and attended Oakton High School where he was a 3-year varsity letterman in football and baseball. His senior year he was one of four player-selected captains of the football team and elected to the student leadership council by the Oakton faculty. During his three years of varsity baseball, he won two Concorde District championships, two Northern Region championships, and one VA State 6A championship. After high school he attended the University of Tennessee and returned home after graduation in 2006 where he began his love for coaching. He coached CYA youth football teams from 2006 to 2010 and was an assistant coach on the Oakton baseball team in 2009. He has been active in coaching his oldest son, Macklin’s baseball teams since 2021 and looks forward to many more years of coaching all of his sons in the future.
Jason Cushman currently resides in Aldie, VA with his wife Karin, 2 daughters (McKinley & Addison), and son Drew. Jason grew up in the Chantilly area and attended Chantilly High School, where he was a multi-sport athlete. Jason played varsity baseball at Chantilly for 3 years under coaches, Tim Gordon and Rob Hahne. Jason continued his baseball career in South Carolina at Francis Marion University, before transferring to James Madison. While at James Madison, Jason played under Spanky McFarland for teams ranked in the Top 25, was voted captain by his teammates in ’02, and played in NCAA Regionals. Jason grew up as a SS, played 3B in SC, utility IF at JMU and converted to CF while at JMU. After starting a family in 2009, Jason’s passion shifted to coaching as his children’s love for sports grew. He has coached competitive youth sports 10+ years. Jason has coached AAU basketball, travel softball, and baseball over those years. (Willard basketball, Dulles south, Solo, VA Glory travel softball, GTS Flight AAU basketball, LSLL baseball, and travel baseball) Outside of coaching, Jason enjoys down time with his family, fishing, being involved in his community, and anything sports related! Jason is excited to share his experiences and passion for baseball with the youth and local community.
